Did Hollywood make a movie from one of my blog posts?
Not really. (Sigh!) In fact, the movie predated my article by two years.
But I didn’t know! When I wrote recently about Words and Pictures, I hadn’t heard of the film. Yet there it is, starring Juliette Binoche and Clive Owen, and directed by Fred Schepisi.
When Cheri and I watched it the other day, via Netflix, it gave me a spooky deja vu feeling. Its plot revolved around the very issue I explored in my article.
To wit: A picture isn’t always worth a thousand words. Some words are worth a thousand pictures. Or even an infinite number of pictures.
With this in mind, I’m launching a blog series on words I love, words that enchant and beguile me, words no graphic image can replace.
Please don’t get me wrong: I love pictures! As an artist and designer, I create them. Their power is indispensable. I get that.
But as a writer I know, too, that “in the beginning was the word”. If you agree, keep following my blog and let’s explore this together. (Or visit to sign up, if you haven’t yet.)
And do see the movie. It’s a barrel of fun, though not as much fun as my post series will be. Stay tuned!
